Hi, I do web design & IM and lots of other things for local small business owners in my area. One technique I will be starting in the next week or so is... Building small niche mini sites based on long tail keywords for businesses in my area (Texas personal trainer, New Hampshire wedding planner etc) with a lead capture tool on the front page (AR) to build a list of leads that adds value to the site for the buyer. I plan to get these sites indexed in google and dominate for those long tailed local searches and then approach local biz's and flip the site to them for $997 w/ an option to add a custom website design to replace or add to the mini site for an extra $300. My question is... What do you think of this idea? How would you improve upon it? Do you see any flaws in my technique? How would you go about getting these sites ranked as fast as possible? We have done a similar technique, pricing our packages at $2,500. What we did was offer a free seminar, placed some scarcity of 100 seats available, gave some free brunch, and converted 100 business owners into 20 clients at $2,500 a piece. With that $500 went to a Virtual Assistant that Blog Commented, Back linked, and SEO the crap out of the sites for two months for indexing. From your question, your hardest part will be the business owners understanding the benefits to their new site, in our case, we explained benefits for two hours, showed increase in sales, had a live testimonial, etc,etc,

I think this question is a bit to broad, try to be a bit more descriptive. A referral link is hard to market, but creating a sales funnel around the referral link, and now you could be making the big bucks

Depending on the market we are releasing the ebook into, sometimes we will contact a professional layout designer to construct a creative style in our ebooks. Generally we use layout designer's for freebie books because the first impression is the strongest from your potential customer.

Having only worked with Wordpress I obviously lean to it's recommendation. Easy to install, easy to tweak and with more plugins and widgets available than you could ever test. The community around Wordpress is also very marketer friendly with development. When bugs or security issues are found they are immediately fixed with updates too. Plus Wordpress is quite easy to use. I can't say regarding Drupal. I just don't see the community around Drupal like with Wordpress. Maybe since I work strictly with Wordpress I'm not seeing the Drupal community.

Its hard to answer this question without knowing the notion of the email, but if your discussing contacting an offline business with an email then you want to make sure that in the email you cover the results of what you will do for them. Small Business' care about results. However, if you give more details on your question we can develop a better answer.

Well...what I do is pay a Virtual Assistant $2.50 per hour to do some Blog Commenting and Link Building on a daily basis, gradually increasing the amount they do per day.

For Autoresponder services I'm sure you know already that www.aweber.com , www.getresponse.com, and www.icontact.com are truely at the top of the game. There is also InfusionSoft which I have heard good reviews on. As for some cheap solutions, I can recommend, www.dirtcheapautoresponder.com When I first started online I developed my own Autoresponder by doing the following: Step One) I created a free form on my website utilizing services such as www.mycontactform.com Step Two) The Form would send contact information to a Free Yahoo/Gmail Account Step Three) I would save the contact information in my account address book. Step Four) I would send an email and attach the address's from my address book. This worked well until I reached around 300 subscribers, but at this point I earned around $230 so I went with www.icontact.com and haven't turned back. I really enjoy IContact's tracking systems.
