I use free tools. 1.) Google.com -- Google itself is an SEO tool - search up your keyword with "quotes" around it. That'll give you the amount of other pages who rank for that exact phrase. Or the intitle:example search for finding out how many pages have my keyword in their title. 2.) SEOBook.com -- Use their keyword tool (based on WordTracker) which shows you the daily amount of views for a particular keyword. You get results from Google, Wordtracker, Yahoo, and MSN (Bing) and then the average amount of views per day from all of them. There is also a keyword list builder. 3.) https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal -- This one is just everywhere, everybody uses it. Googles keyword tool. Type in your keyword, and the captcha code and get the monthly searches. Or analyze a page for the keywords you should use. 4.) SEOMoz.org/tools -- They have lots and lots of tools. Free and paid, they're well worth looking at.
