Hi, I do web design & IM and lots of other things for local small business owners in my area. One technique I will be starting in the next week or so is... Building small niche mini sites based on long tail keywords for businesses in my area (Texas personal trainer, New Hampshire wedding planner etc) with a lead capture tool on the front page (AR) to build a list of leads that adds value to the site for the buyer. I plan to get these sites indexed in google and dominate for those long tailed local searches and then approach local biz's and flip the site to them for $997 w/ an option to add a custom website design to replace or add to the mini site for an extra $300. My question is... What do you think of this idea? How would you improve upon it? Do you see any flaws in my technique? How would you go about getting these sites ranked as fast as possible? We have done a similar technique, pricing our packages at $2,500. What we did was offer a free seminar, placed some scarcity of 100 seats available, gave some free brunch, and converted 100 business owners into 20 clients at $2,500 a piece. With that $500 went to a Virtual Assistant that Blog Commented, Back linked, and SEO the crap out of the sites for two months for indexing. From your question, your hardest part will be the business owners understanding the benefits to their new site, in our case, we explained benefits for two hours, showed increase in sales, had a live testimonial, etc,etc,

Yeah, it works. The only thing you might want to consider is getting the money *before* you do the work. If you have proven case studies and then say something like, 'we're only doing this for one person in your area', it builds the scarcity and social proof right into the mix and gets money *before* you spend and time/effort. Just my 2 cents....
